My husband is also a teacher, and has been selected as a Common Core Math Ambassador.  Sounds pretty fancy, doesn't it?  Well, this title he received means that he gets training from the NYS Department of Education, and then he is expected to return to his district and update his fellow colleagues with all he has learned.  In order to organize and distribute his information, he has created a website, which I will share below.  Recently I have been examining the Common Core Modules.  I have to say that I think they are pretty well done (however I haven't viewed them all yet).  Certainly a teacher likes to have some freedom with their teaching style, however this gives exemplar lessons that help to guide a teacher's instruction.  It's a great way to understand what is expected and the level of rigor that is needed.  I am quite eager to continue my investigation into the "modules."

Learning Targets

This morning I met a very kind and inspiring Principal.  She gave me an idea of another book I can add to my list of reading material.  I am very excited about it and have already ordered it.  I am excited as I hear more and more information about Learning Targets.  I have already been pinning many different Learning Target ideas from Pinterest.  I plan on adding links to some of these as I come across them.

Anyway... here is the new text I am excited about!!!!!

So... I have been very busy with LOTS of reading.  I believe it is important to stay current with my teaching practices, so I have been reading numerous books, web-sites, and blogs in order to learn, reflect, and revise my lessons.

Here is a list of what I have been working on:

As I work through these texts, I will continuously post my reflections as I read, learn, and revise my thoughts.
